And I thought the worst was over.

27 Sep

But no, it isn’t.

Met the stingiest EVER lecturer on Sunday for block teaching.

The norm is, you submit your assignments on time, turn up for some lectures to “show face”, sit for the exam and pass, maybe participate in a bit of forum discussion and you should be fine.

This idiot is just trying to be the anamoly in all lecturers.

I told him I couldn’t stay for the afternoon session and that I had to miss the Tuesday session as I was going overseas.

You know what that idiot said????

He actually told me that I might have difficulties to even PASS the unit.

WTF is that?!?!?!?!

I was like, dumbfounded when he said that, ‘cos no lecturer had ever done that!

This is a freakin’ PART TIME MBA, for crying out loud, which means that ALL students here have FULL TIME jobs out there?

What if the student had to work? Go out of town? You’re gonna fail him/ her just because of that? Not like it’s their fault?

What. An. Ass. Hole.

I could’ve just walked out and not tell him, right? And he wouldn’t even notice.

Out of courtesy and honesty, I did.

And this is what I get?

Honesty is OVERRATED. WTF lah.

When I made plans for my trips, I hadn’t planned for taking this unit.

Well, turns out both my trips have dates clashing with class and presentation. I’m prepared to change my flight for HK to attend the presentation, but his stinky attitude just makes me feel like dropping the entire unit altogether.

Whatever, I’m going to talk to him this evening and if he’s terms are not satisfactory, I’m going to drop this freakin’ unit.

It’s just not worth it.

/end rant.

Argh, all prices are in USD, in case you’re wondering.

I was considering to get the iPhone case, but it’s so expensive! After conversion (damn good rates for USD now), it’s about $53.60.

MAD LAH.

Cheh, but it’s so nice! Cute until…

Bah, shall not waste money.

Maybe can find similar ones in Shenzhen (Land of Fakes) when I go over in October.

Muahahahaha.

Might consider getting the plush though. I really like the 50th Anniversary one.

But the Apple one is cute too!

All pictures from sanrio.com

OMG. ONLY CAN BUY ONE!

Laptop died.

23 Sep

I am sad. The motherboard died. :(

RIP Acer. I quite liked that laptop and I’ve customised it so well that it’s so easy to use!

Bah, so begins the horrible task of looking for new laptops / macbooks / desktops, I haven’t quite decided.

I like laptops for the portability, I can just bring it from office to home, when I need it.

I’m using a Mac at home, and I know I can get the parallel desktop thingy but sometimes I just want the familiar interface of Windows.

Oh I don’t know.

And I’m pretty turned off by Windows 7, it’s not user friendly at all! Or maybe it’s just on this computer, it’s so sloooooooooooooooooow. I can probably finish reading the entire Harry Potter series while waiting for the computer to boot up.

Right, maybe not so serious, but really, too damn slow lah. So I’d probably get the downgrade to Windows XP Professional. Haha, so much easier and friendlier to use.

I’ve uninstalled some stuff, hopefully the computer runs faster now. Haha.

There’s also the possibility of getting a Macbook, but it’d mean I need to get MS Office for Mac, PS for Mac, everything for Mac. Sigh. But the costs of conversion is too high.

I wonder if I can uninstall the MS Office on my dead laptop and transfer that copy to the new one (if I get a Windows one).

A desktop would be good too, it’s more powderful and I can easily expand the memory or change parts and all. Right?

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Been surfing some websites on tips for choosing laptops and basically most of them highlight these things to look out for: 1. RAM, 2. HDD memory and speed, 3. processor speed.

Ok, it’s a pain in the ass lah, mostly because it’s really boring and technical stuff. I know I’m definitely not a gaming person, so I can safely skip the graphic and sound cards part. And I rarely watch DVDs or movies on the laptop too. Also am not too particular with the sound quality so as long as it’s not fuzzy, I’m good.

So. I’m quite inclined towards the Dell, they have quite a comprehensive website! I like.

I have lost all faith in Acer and HP. Meh.

Now all I need is to link up my mother’s PC to mine at work so that we can share documents since there’s only one laser printer.

Whoopee.

And I’m totally, totally maxed out next week. Class starts on Sunday. SADNESS.

There’s also F1! Wheee!

Then it’s off to Bali. Then class. Then the rush for submissions of reports begins.

OMG.

AND CLASS STARTS MEANS RESULTS ARE GOING TO BE RELEASED SOON.

OH MY GOD PLEASE LET ME PASS DADM. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Birthday Brunch @ PS Cafe

22 Sep

PS Cafe at Dempsey Hill for brunch last Sunday!

Meh and I woke up bright and early.

It’s just a little tradition we have, scour for good brunch places and an excuse to dress up for a girlie day out!

I think it’s fun! Although the waking up takes a bit of getting used to. o_O”

So it’s my birthday and Meh treats me for brunch! ‘Cos she lazy to think and shop for a present for me.

Wahaha.

And here we are at PS Cafe!

Dempsey Hill was crowded, considering that it was only 10.30am when we reached.

But it was even more crowded when we left, DOME was literally overflowing with people.

We couldn’t decide where to sit. Definitely not indoors, ‘cos the smell of lilies (there were 2 huge TREES of them) was too overpowering. So I requested for an outdoor table.

But that particular table was directly in the path of the sun. T_T

I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass, like I’m gonna fizzle and explode into a ball of fire.

Then the couple at that table under the tree left, so YAY for us! :)

Plus we have space to put our bags!

I ordered the Portobello Stack ($23) and Didi ordered the PS Big Bacon and Eggs ($22).

On hindsight, I should have ordered that too.

I’m not a fan of poached eggs. Not awesome. :(

The Portobello and bacon (!!!) and potato gratin were oishii though.

POACHED EGGS SUCKS MONKEY BALLS.

Look! They’re so considerate, they even provide taxi calling cards! In case you get stranded in Dempsey Hill!

Clearly, this place is for tourists (read: angmohs) and probably expats living around the area.

The cafe was filled with angmohs. Inside, outside, beside us, behind us. EVERYWHERE!

And they were everywhere in Dempsey Hill too, for that matter.

Explains A LOT about the SNOTTY ATTITUDE THE PINOY STAFF GAVE US.

I really don’t know why service staff like to discriminate between hair/skin colour.

Just because I don’t carry a Birkin / have blonde hair / white skin / blue eyes / leave generous tips (because your service doesn’t deserve a tip from me!) doesn’t mean I can’t afford to pay for the food and deserve good service, alright?

Come on, you’re Asian too? No?

Service levels have so much to improve on around here.

Bah.

*throw hands up in exasperation*

Anyhows, this is a happy post, so.

The entrance to the cafe is really inconspicuous, so you should really look out for it.

It’s just as you turn left, coming down from the fountain. Opposite a huge field. And near the back entrance of Hacienda.

The trees and shrubs they planted along the pathway ought to be pruned soon too. They’re all over the wooden planks.

Not so glam to get your nice chiffon maxi dresses caught in the branches eh?

After being stuffed full with mushrooms, eggs and bacons, we took a slow walk back to the car.

The speed limit’s 25km/h, y’all. Don’t SPEED!

And the Merlion looks shocked. Wahaha.

My wedges from Pedder! Comfy! Imma stock up on this brand when I go to HK.
And that’s the back entrance of Hacienda. Nice place too!

That’s the fountain. We walked upslope from the cafe. Quite hot, the sun was merciless!! But I’d rather the sun than rain. Meh.

Didi wrote me a postcard (like in TK, man I miss those days!) and I teared reading it. :(

And I LOVE THE ‘STICK YOUR MEMORY’ (that’s what it says on the booklet, muahahaha) lah. So pretty! :)

But I won’t bear to use it leh, my handwriting is so awful. Wasted!

Anyhoos, big big thanks to Meh for bringing me to brunch and for the postcard and stick-your-memory!

<3 you deep deep.

xoxo,

Sel

Many photos to share!

20 Sep

I’m so excited because I had such an exciting and fabulous weekend!

Brunch on Saturday and Sunday with Mummy and my favourite meh, primary school gathering, dinner with the BSC gang.

I have so many photos!

Looking through the photos make me happy.

I am particularly proud that my primary school classmates are still in contact after 14 long years.

Although I am not closely in contact with anyone (some of them still hang out frequently, amazing!), but I’m glad that we still make the effort to meet up.

You guys rock! :)

Rewards

17 Sep

Allow me to bring your attention to the item circled with red ink.

(click for a larger image)

That’s my group’s score for our statistics project.

The one we overhauled the NIGHT BEFORE submission at 10pm.

The very same one that we thought we were going to screw up ‘cos our presentation didn’t seem to impress the lecturer.

The one that made me sit alone in my room at 3am and cry tears of desperation and helplessness.

Silly, I know, but I was really x 4723095 panicking with less than 24hrs to submission.

And now it’s all worth it. Because.

IT’S A FUCKING DISTINCTION LAH.

Please excuse me while I soak myself in happiness.

Now I just pray that I will pass the exam.

I really don’t want to retake the entire unit all over again. :(

I want to graduate by July 2011.

Please x 100.

Received this in my email yesterday. I don’t know what to make of it because.

No. 1. I didn’t join the contest to win a trip?! (I thought it was just submit your photo to the AirAsia facebook page and get it published -.-”)

No. 2. So do I have to blog about the trip? Like am I legally bound to do it? I read through the T&Cs and they don’t say!

No. 3. Is the prize for 2 person? Or just for me alone? Because I don’t think I’d go alone???

Ok, I guess I have to email the tour agency for details huh.

YAY!

Ok, I’m going to PS NAO.

OMG JUST HEARD THE SMRT JINGLE. T_T

Train is coming, train is coming!

Give up your seats to those who need it!

Muahahaha, quite funny!

Ooh and Happy Birthday to MELVIN TAN!

Catch you later alligator!

Pulau Ubin – August 09

16 Sep

Nong nong time ago, Ting, Karen and I went to Pulau Ubin to cycle and soak in Mother Nature’s beauty!

We took a ferry from the Changi Ferry Terminal, tickets are $2 or $2.50 or something, I can’t remember.

There wasn’t a ticket, really, just someone collecting money. I think.

The ferry journey was about 15 – 20 minutes? Super old school ‘cos its those old retro bumper boats, not those airconditioned type. I like!

The first thing you see when you cross the bridge to enter the island is the bicycle rental shop! There are a few of them, all around the same area, pricing is the same as well, I would think.

Can’t remember how much is the rental though. :X

We rented ours for the entire morning and afternoon, till about 2pm, ‘cos we’re weak and we got tired.

Muahahaha.

It’s like this around the whole island. Cycling track, water, forest-y trees and it’s pretty serene.

No big crowds, just families. We saw some chalets that were opening too (probably opened by now). Oh and OBS. Heh.

Then Ting had problems with her water pack, couldn’t get the water out and had to call her brother to ask! So funny! She just kept trying to suck the water out, but it appeared that the tube wasn’t working. Wahahaha.

And while she’s trying to get water out, Karen and I were taking photos around, of my Tiger Balm. Woohoo.

It’s the best!

We did jumpshots too! I could’ve sent this to the Jetstar jumpshot contest. BAH.

Would’ve won! :(

Totally forgot I had these jumpshots in my laptop. Meh.

More jumpshots in different combinations of people. Quite tiring to do jumpshots. T_T

We got tired after a while, so we stopped by some villagers’ shop and took photos. Also bought coconuts from a pick-up! There was this board we went past, cute! Someone sprayed some nonsensical sentences on it.

Maybe advertisement.

Lunch was at the zhi char stall near the entrance of the island. Kangkong and some other stuff I forgot. Bought rambutans which were not so nice. Probably locally grown on the island, we spotted some rambutan trees while cycling.

After returning the bicycles, we rested for a while on the bridge, taking photos.

We wanted to take a photo of us back-facing the camera, looking at th sea, so we set up the self-timer and put it on the ledge.

Quite scary because, 1. the camera (mine!) could have dropped into the sea or 2. get stolen by passers-by.

Anyway, the bottom right corner photo is classic. The camera caught passers-by!

Took the ferry back and went home to sleep! We woke up so early for this and my knees were protesting after that.

We’re such weaklings.

But it was fun! Let’s do it soon again! :)

Fried Rice Paradise 2010

15 Sep

I was really excited about Fried Rice Paradise, music by Dick Lee with Taufik and Sebastian Tan, y’know.

So imagine my glee when GRLs were offered 50% off tickets for the PA Night! Rounded up the usual gang and we bought 5 tickets to watch it!

It was a mad rush getting there from Choa “blody-far” Chu Kang and I had really hard time find parking lots at Marina Square.

Ended up parking in a non-parking lot but damn good location!

It’s like my own private lot! :D

Missed dinner, because I remembered the time wrongly. I kept thinking 7.30pm but it was actually 8pm lah.

Gan cheong for nothing leh.

Our seats were actually quite good. In the middle, but Circle 2. I was hoping for stall seats, but there were MPs and all, so I guess they kept all the good seats for the important people.

Photo taking during intermission. Apparently Ms Han’s pink iPhone 4 cover was affecting her flash, and we kept getting pink pictures. T_T

A real camera is what you need. I’m still thinking about the S90 (or S95 already, I heard cheaper) ‘cos I promised Parmi that I’d give her my camera if she’s extending her contract.

And she is. So yeah.

Anyhoos, after the intermission, about 10 minutes into the show, the audio failed. And I think the stage set up failed too!

OMG!

The director (or some big shot) came out on stage and sheepishly said that there has been some technical difficulties and the team would need 15 minutes to fix it.

We waited, and waited.

20 minutes later, still no news.

Then Sebastian Tan came out and announced that the problems needed more than 20 minutes and probably the whole night to fix!

We were like, -_____-!!!

No kidding.

And he asked us to go home.

That PA would make arrangements to either watch another show or to do a refund.

PAISEH UNTIL LAO SAI I SWEAR.

Sian or not!!!!

Now I’ll never know whether fried rice became successful and famous, who Taufik’s character ended up with and what happened to Sebastian Tan’s character.

Boo. :(

Obligatory photo with the board.

Cheh, after much grumbling we left the theatre and claimed our free packets of spice powder. I thought they were kidding. But really got! Hahaha.

One more without me.

Cheh. I am unsatisfied! Plus, we still haven’t got the refund. Sigh.

Of all the nights, they had to fail on PA night with all the MPs and important people! Argh.

We are just SUAY. :(

Birthday 2010 + Long Weekend!

14 Sep

To be really honest, I hate celebrating my birthday.

Especially those after 21. It’s like these celebrations are not the most important thing in the world anymore.

I used to think birthday celebrations are a MUST!

But now, they are just a good excuse to meet up with old friends for a good meal, since everyone’s too busy with their own lives on normal days.

This is a consolidation of photos taken from my birthday celebrations over the weekend!

And also the super early one at Marriot with the BFFs. LOL.

1 Sep 2010

High tea at Marriott Cafe (or something). Quite crowded for a weekday afternoon, how come all these people not working?! Took a break from mugging for Marketing! :)

The “star” of the afternoon! Princess Valeryn! With the head band I just got for her. Cute max! But still sleepy. Meh.

And then! Surprise! Marriott staff with my birthday cake and singing Happy Birthday! Omg, very paiseh! Hahaha. I was mid-sentence, btw, when they came by. T_T

Group photo! With Valeryn sleeping. As usual. -__-”

I was totally caught off guard, so I didn’t know what to wish for. Not that these wishes come true anyway.

Oh lookie, Tiger Balm at the bottom right corner! :P

*Glee*

With my 1st birthday cake! I’m 26! OMG! Old!

We were so stuffed with food that we only had a small slice of the cake. I brought the rest home. Ha.

And the baby is sleeping. Again. Sigh.

Muahaha, I love her expression in this photo! She was looking at me! :D

The baba godmother with her sleepy goddaughter. *pout*

The mummy with baby! Still pouting! Haha.

Ok, at least she’s not pouting anymore. That’s an improvement eh. Yawn!

9 Sep 2010

Then it was dinner at Tiffany Cafe, Furama City Centre.

Usual price for buffet dinner is $42++, but with DBS or Amex cards, you get 1 for 1! Damn good deal ‘cos it’s only $26 nett after the discount!

Ok, granted, the spread wasn’t fantastic but it’s halal and maybe the food selection was different for the Hari Raya celebration.

They had the usual stuff, prawns (apparently very fresh, the Monster ate a whole plate full), sashimi (also fresh), desserts counter ( a lot of variety, but creme brulee fail like whale!), live cooking station, coffee and tea, etc.

Might go again after Hari Raya and see what they have to offer!

Another birthday cake! Cheesecake! And the mandatory group photos.

Waiting at the lobby while we decide where to go.

Still waiting. And discussing. And taking photos. Ms Han is standing on a step higher than us in the bottom photo. And she’s still shorter. OMG. :P

After much discussion, we finally decided to go to Lantern, at Fullerton Bay Hotel! Rooms are at least $480+++ per night. MADNESS. But the view is, WOW!

The view when the lift door opens. MBS right smack in front of you.

CHIO OR NOT!!

Moet & Chandon for the birthday party!

At the posh lobby waiting for Monster and Ting. Love the chandeliers! So pretty!

Fullerton Hotel and Esplanade on the left.

They had lounge chairs! Whatever you call those things. So shiok.

I would think this would be a damn good place for New Year’s countdown and National Day Parades and the Fireworks Festivals! Vantage view of the fireworks minus the squeezing yar!

My presents – a cheque from the gang (it’s a practical present, alright!) and ang bao from Mummy! :D

10 Sep 2010

BBQ with the toes at Jeff’s place!

It’s really more of a birthday cum farewell to Eugene cum farewell to Casafina BBQ, really.

It’s the last BBQ before Jeff moves to a new place and a farewell BBQ for Eugene, who’s going back to London.

And it’s also for the September babies – me, Geraldine and Kevin.

No photos of this ‘cos I was busy mahjong-ing, Scrabble-ing, eating and escaping from being thrown into the pool.

So we wait for Jeff to upload!

Meanwhile, I have only this!

Fabulous birthday cupcakes for each of the birthday babies! Mine is called Princess!

:)

Thanks you guys! Love it!

Oh and the many many many birthday songs. I bet it was at least 4 times. -___-” Funny as hell!

And thanks to Poh and Jo for the shopping vouchers! Yay! More shopping!

11 Sep 2010

Shopping at City Plaza and manicure at Far East Plaza!

My Miumiu cat top from CP! Muahahaha. Love the material, it’s so comfy!

And check out my adorable manicure from Vain Beauty!

Makes me feel so happy just looking at my fingers now. Wahahaha.

Anyway, it’s been a great birthday! One more last one with the BSC gang on Sunday!

Photos after that too!

Thanks to all who made it possible, you guys know who you are!

BIG KISS AND HUGS to all!

And much thanks for all the birthday wishes on Facebook, Twitter, SMS and Whatsapp!

You guys are great!

xoxo,

Housewarming at The Lau’s

13 Sep

Breaking this exciting Saturday into 2 parts. The first part was spent at Choa “blody-far” Chu Kang, where Mr and Mrs Lau had set up nest in their spanking new flat!

Honestly, the renovation was “hwoah”. You wouldn’t think you’re in a HDB flat at all! Nice job, you two.

Anyway, little hooha getting there, inaccurate directions from Googlemaps, coupled with very irritable mood, you end up with a highly erm, irritated Sel.

I hate getting lost (I mean, who does, right?) and it didn’t help that Googlemaps gave the wrong directions. -.-”

A 30 minute journey from Paya Lebar became an hour plus (or two) and I was this close to not going at all.

Well, eventually I got there, parked at the wrong carpark (!) and had to wait for Ed the fireman and Jen to come pick me up. I felt like a lost cat. Bah.

Ok, point is, the next time I go, I’ll be taking the public transport, yar.

Photos!

See the mahjong table at the back? That’s our gift to them!

Everyone was fascinated with the iPad that Aloy brought, even the “man of the house”.

Ms Chong and me. I look huge beside her. -.-”

And this is what you get when you ask the Catman to take pics for you of you.

Mahjong Queens! Like real. :X

See, this is what you get when the Catman has the camera.

Must be permanently on guard, if not you’ll get pics like mine. T_T

Mahjong King! Counting out the chips on the brand new mahjong table.

The entertainment room with the LCD TV and shelves full of DVDs and games! That’s Jen, Lum and Kok playing Rock Band or something. Kok is singing! Spice Girls?

Still singing.

Poor Toto, trying to sleep through the sound pollution. Muahahaha.

Toto! It’s so fluffy! I’m gonna die! Lol. Too cute lah!

Toto tottering around the house, looking for people who’d give him food. LOL.

Aloy’s iPad. Man, playing Bejeweled on this is a whole new experience, man. The jewels are like, HUGEASS BIG!

And that’s my Twitter showing Didi’s mention.

And I had to rush off to the Esplanade for Fried Rice Paradise with technical difficulties, so group photo!

Missed Elliot too, because I came late and he had to leave early. Bah.

I hate you, Googlemaps.

One more of them looking at Toto. Muahaha, quite funny this picture. Toto’s the only one looking at the camera!

And that’s all folks, Fried Rice Paradise in the next entry!

Plus, I still haven’t blogged about the YOG Opening Ceremony.

Wahahahahaha.
