Birthday Brunch @ PS Cafe

22 Sep

PS Cafe at Dempsey Hill for brunch last Sunday!

Meh and I woke up bright and early.

It’s just a little tradition we have, scour for good brunch places and an excuse to dress up for a girlie day out!

I think it’s fun! Although the waking up takes a bit of getting used to. o_O”

So it’s my birthday and Meh treats me for brunch! ‘Cos she lazy to think and shop for a present for me.

Wahaha.

And here we are at PS Cafe!

Dempsey Hill was crowded, considering that it was only 10.30am when we reached.

But it was even more crowded when we left, DOME was literally overflowing with people.

We couldn’t decide where to sit. Definitely not indoors, ‘cos the smell of lilies (there were 2 huge TREES of them) was too overpowering. So I requested for an outdoor table.

But that particular table was directly in the path of the sun. T_T

I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass, like I’m gonna fizzle and explode into a ball of fire.

Then the couple at that table under the tree left, so YAY for us! :)

Plus we have space to put our bags!

I ordered the Portobello Stack ($23) and Didi ordered the PS Big Bacon and Eggs ($22).

On hindsight, I should have ordered that too.

I’m not a fan of poached eggs. Not awesome. :(

The Portobello and bacon (!!!) and potato gratin were oishii though.

POACHED EGGS SUCKS MONKEY BALLS.

Look! They’re so considerate, they even provide taxi calling cards! In case you get stranded in Dempsey Hill!

Clearly, this place is for tourists (read: angmohs) and probably expats living around the area.

The cafe was filled with angmohs. Inside, outside, beside us, behind us. EVERYWHERE!

And they were everywhere in Dempsey Hill too, for that matter.

Explains A LOT about the SNOTTY ATTITUDE THE PINOY STAFF GAVE US.

I really don’t know why service staff like to discriminate between hair/skin colour.

Just because I don’t carry a Birkin / have blonde hair / white skin / blue eyes / leave generous tips (because your service doesn’t deserve a tip from me!) doesn’t mean I can’t afford to pay for the food and deserve good service, alright?

Come on, you’re Asian too? No?

Service levels have so much to improve on around here.

Bah.

*throw hands up in exasperation*

Anyhows, this is a happy post, so.

The entrance to the cafe is really inconspicuous, so you should really look out for it.

It’s just as you turn left, coming down from the fountain. Opposite a huge field. And near the back entrance of Hacienda.

The trees and shrubs they planted along the pathway ought to be pruned soon too. They’re all over the wooden planks.

Not so glam to get your nice chiffon maxi dresses caught in the branches eh?

After being stuffed full with mushrooms, eggs and bacons, we took a slow walk back to the car.

The speed limit’s 25km/h, y’all. Don’t SPEED!

And the Merlion looks shocked. Wahaha.

My wedges from Pedder! Comfy! Imma stock up on this brand when I go to HK.
And that’s the back entrance of Hacienda. Nice place too!

That’s the fountain. We walked upslope from the cafe. Quite hot, the sun was merciless!! But I’d rather the sun than rain. Meh.

Didi wrote me a postcard (like in TK, man I miss those days!) and I teared reading it. :(

And I LOVE THE ‘STICK YOUR MEMORY’ (that’s what it says on the booklet, muahahaha) lah. So pretty! :)

But I won’t bear to use it leh, my handwriting is so awful. Wasted!

Anyhoos, big big thanks to Meh for bringing me to brunch and for the postcard and stick-your-memory!

<3 you deep deep.

xoxo,

Sel
