I don’t read Thai man!
28 JulSo we’re now on the hunt for hotels / hostels / accomodation for the trip to Bangkok in August. And it’s driving us crazy because the hotel is either too far / too expensive / don’t know where or something.
But it’s ok, we’ve sort of shortlisted a few. There’s Woraburi / Quality Suites Bangkok / Queen’s Resort place or something.
Woraburi and Queen’s Resort’s rooms look a bit dodgy from the photographs though.

Taken from Wotif.com - Woraburi Sukhumvit Hotel & Resort
This is the most basic room, about THB1000 for a night. Looks a bit dodgy don’t you think?

Taken from Wotif.com – Queen’s Garden Resort
The standard double room, for THB900 a night. Looks really spartan but at S$40 a night, who’s to complain right?

Taken from Wotif.com – Quality Suites Bangkok
So far the best of the lot at a reasonable price of THB2700 for Quad sharing. Which works out to about S$30 a night for each of us.
Best part of it, it has a living area, separate bedrooms and toilets (yay!) so we can bunk in together and yet have a little privacy.
Well, maybe they just bothered to put up good photographs for the sake of luring unknowing travellers like me who don’t know better. But at least they’re making an effort and I guess the suite did look like that when it first started eh?
Oh I don’t know, I’m quite set on Quality Suites because of the quad sharing (savings!) and because it’s near Chatuchak weekend market!
And to all the web-page makers and map-makers in Thailand, can you please take into consideration people who don’t actually live in Bangkok and who can’t read Thai!?!?!?
Seriously!

Like hello, so which one of them squiggly wiggly text means Mo Chit, Central Station and Chit Lom? I want to know because that’s where the shopping places are. Thank you very much, Mr (or Miss) “I-didn’t-know-you-can’t-read-Thai” Map / Web person.
Roars.
And the maps are all USELESS!

Like ok, tell me how helpful this map is. Do I, a foreign visitor, really need to know where the Telephone Organisation of Thailand is? Hmm? Unless I’m from Singtel going for a meeting at the TOT lah, then maybe it’ll be remotely useful. Heh.
At least tell me where Chatuchak is. Or MBK. Something useful man! *rolls eyes*
I’m so tired and frustrated trying to find maps that have the hotel plus the relevant shopping places together. It’s quite difficult to imagine how far we are if we can’t see things in relative. Grr.
Anyways, am still looking forward to the trip. A break from work is always welcome.
That irritating 250page report is back on my desk again. HQ says Friday is the last last last final(est) deadline that SPRING is giving us. So yeah. I pray and I hope that I won’t ever have to see it again!
God knows how many trees I’ve killed to print the report 3 times over. 3 x 256, you do the math.
I need to submit 4 copies in total, so make that 7 x 256.
Oh and I need to keep 4 more copies for us management staff, so scratch the 7 and make it 11!!!!
Argh. That’s almost 5 reams of papers. Gosh, LIVE EARTH MAN PEOPLE!
They do not love the earth at all. Sigh.
And 11 x 250 is just ONE office. There are NINE offices all together. I shudder to think.
I love you, Gaia, but I have no choice.
So exciting. I want to make a list of what I want to buy in BKK. Heehee. Super looking forward to Chatuchak because I always have no fate with that place. Last few times I went, I didn’t manage to go! Sian.
And pray pray pray that my Auntie doesn’t come and visit during the trip. If not, will be very anti-climax.
Boo. Ok I’m tired! Night!
